The Worlds Purest Water Sources

To begin, lets educate ourselves on how scientists measure the purity of water. A water analysis lab will test the water for: Heavy Metals, Bacteria, Harmful Gases, Chemicals Compounds and Organic Matter. (Complete List at the bottom of the page) They will then list each contaminant as it appears in ppm (parts per million) and then the sum of the ppm will equal the TDS. (total dissolved solid) The EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) has deemed a TDS of 500 ppm to be safe to drink, what they don’t tell you is that if you drink water containing 500 ppm for 70 years you will consumer between 200 – 300 lbs of rock in your life time. Most of this will be dealt with through excretion, but some of it will end up in your joints and latch to your bones, causing illnesses such as Arthritis, Osteoporosis, and Alzheimers.

On top of all of these ‘contaminants’ in our water the filtration process done by city filtration plants or Municipal Water Systems, does not necessarily add that much benefit to us. With bacteria in the water that most all cities buy their water from, they have to treat it with harsh chemicals such a Chlorine. Yes, if you fill up a gallon of water and let it sit for 24 hours the chlorine will evaporate, but the Fluoride won’t! At the end of the day, your tap water is not the best source of water, it is best to get your water from a natural spring, well, or super pure lake/river.

This leads us to the most pure sources of water on the planet.

  1. Alaska – The Last Frontier: With the majority of its landscape maintained in its natural form, extremely low population to square mile ratio and almost zero industry to pollute its water sources it has been able to claim the number 1 spot for purest water source in the United States. Most of its fresh water TDS measures between 10 – 20 ppm. To give you an idea of how pure that is, Arrowhead bottled water is around 240 ppm and Fiji bottled water is around 220. LESS THAN 10% of these branded bottled waters.
  2. Puerto Williams, Chile – A Hidden Treasure: In such a water scarce country, one would not expect to find water of such quality flowing freely. The middle east has attempted to export the water for their own drinking needs, but were shut down by the Chilean government due to their own lack of clean water. Chile is currently working on putting this natural resource to work by moving water to other parts of the country.
